The science behind the Nokia Lumia 900's screen quality
I of the many things that stood out in our review of the AT&T Nokia Lumia 900 is how good the screen looks. Nokia is using ClearBlack display technology with the Lumia 900 that definitely makes a difference. Just why?
In a recent interview with CNET Raymond Soneira, president of DisplayMate Technologies, explained why ClearBlack display engineering science gives the Lumia 900 such a squeamish screen. Soneira explains that reflectance of a screen tin can degrade the sharpness and color quality you see. Information technology may exist nice to bear on up your make-upward or comb your hair from your Windows Telephone screen'due south reflection merely it doesn't aid with screen quality.
Nokia manages to address this effect with the ClearBlack technology and circularly polarized glare suppressing optics. The polarized optics disrupts the reflections, minimizing tier influence on image quality. Co-ordinate to Soneira,
"The Lumia 900 has the everyman screen reflectance of whatsoever mobile device I accept ever measured, 4.four%, which is well-nigh forty percent lower than the iPhone 4."
DisplayMate Technologies too found the reflectance rating of the Lumia 900 to be noticeably better than that of the new iPad which is rated at 9.ix%. Scientific discipline asides, the lesser line is that the Lumia 900's screen looks really good.
